Today, we spent a while in Keswick and bought a teapot - the first of my new collection. Oh, and we bought chocolates ... then we walked the coffin trail.

The coffin trail

Now, poets are the weirdest of folk
With their heads full of words that won’t rhyme
But when we go walking in the North Lakes
We expect to have a good time

Setting off from Dove Cottage, Grasmere
We take the terrace to Rydal Mount
Supposedly an easy terrain
If those vertical bits don’t count

We have our lunch in the Badger Bar
Which boasts real ale, real food and real staff
We rest our weary legs for a while
Dreaming of a soak in the bath

We wolf down our ham and cheese baguettes
While sinking a few beers in great style
Then it is time to cross the next bridge
For the upper terrace, Rydal

The poet's walk wanders past Wordsworth
Mentions Southey and Coleridge too
But the thing that I’ll always remember?
Not blisters - the breathtaking view
